|Xi Jinping Delivers Written Address to Asia and Pacific High-level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation|
On June 23, 2021, President Xi Jinping delivered a written address to the Asia and Pacific High-level Conference on Belt and Road Cooperation.
Xi Jinping stressed that I proposed the Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) aiming to carry on the Silk Road spirit and co-build an open platform for cooperation with all countries to generate new driving forces for the development of all countries. Over the past eight years, up to 140 countries have signed documents on Belt and Road cooperation with China. We are welcoming more and more partners. Countries earnestly promote policy, infrastructure, trade, financial and people-to-people connectivity. We have launched a large number of pragmatic cooperation projects to benefit the public, and established the multi-dimensional and comprehensive connectivity partnership, creating a new world of common development. In face of the COVID-19 outbreak, we have helped and supported each other to overcome difficulties together and bring forward the Belt and Road development, conveyed confidence and vitality to the international community, and made significant contributions to the global fight against COVID-19 and economic recovery.
Xi Jinping stressed that the Belt and Road must be built through a consultative process and joint efforts to bring benefits to all, uphold the principles of openness, green, integrity and cooperation, and focus on high-standard, sustainable cooperation to improve people's well-being. China is entering into a new stage of development, taking new development approaches and fostering a new development paradigm to create more market opportunities, investment opportunities and growth opportunities for BRI partners. China will work with all sides to build a closer Belt and Road partnership of solidarity, cooperation, connectivity and common development, and advance the building of a community with a shared future for mankind.
