|General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party and President Bounnhang Vorachit Meets with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi|
On 20 February, General Secretary of the Central Committee of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President Bounnhang Vorachit met with State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi in Vientiane.
Bounnhang Vorachit asked Wang Yi to convey his sincere greetings to General Secretary and President Xi Jinping. He said that his heart is with China in resolutely fighting the epidemic. Over the past 70 years, China has overcome numerous difficulties and made great achievements that have captured worldwide attention, strengthening its confidence in prevailing over adversities. He believed that with its robust economic strength built over the past 40 years of reform and opening-up, China will soon triumph over the epidemic under the strong leadership of General Secretary Xi Jinping. He also believed that after the epidemic, China's economy will keep growing rapidly and the living standard of the Chinese people will continue to improve day by day. He wished the China-ASEAN Special Foreign Ministers' Meeting and LMC Foreign Ministers' Meeting every success which will further enhance mutual trust and cooperation between ASEAN and China.
Bounnhang Vorachit said that the LPRP and the Lao government highly cherish the friendship between Laos and China and sincerely thank the CPC and the Chinese government for the valuable assistance that China has provided to the economic and social development of Laos. Currently, major cooperation projects such as the Laos-China Railway are progressing smoothly, bringing tangible benefits to the Lao people. The LPRP and the Lao government firmly adhere to the one-China policy and are ready to strengthen exchanges and cooperation with China in all fields. Laos will work with China to build a Laos-China community with a shared future.
Wang Yi conveyed cordial greetings from General Secretary and President Xi Jinping to Bounnhang Vorachit. He gave a briefing on the strong measures taken by China to combat the epidemic and the latest progress, indicating that under the strong leadership of the CPC Central Committee with General Secretary Xi Jinping at the core and with the strengths of the socialist system and rich experience in dealing with public health incidents, China will be able to thoroughly triumph over the epidemic as soon as possible.
Wang said that after the outbreak of the epidemic, the LPRP and the Lao government and the people immediately extended a helping hand to China. We are deeply moved as the General Secretary personally called on the whole Party and the people of Laos to tide over the difficulties together with the Chinese people. This once again vividly reflects the deep and unbreakable friendship between China and Laos and epitomizes the China-Laos community with a shared future. China expresses its heartfelt thanks to the Party, government and people of Laos. Wang Yi stressed that China has pursued development despite various difficulties and obstacles since no difficulty can defeat China and we can overcome and deal with any challenge. We believe that after the epidemic, the Chinese people will get stronger and more united, China's economic development will be more vigorous and sustainable, and the leadership of the Communist Party of China will be more resolutely supported by all the Chinese people. We will be able to build a moderately prosperous society in all aspects, completely eradicate absolute poverty, and achieve the first centennial goal.
Wang Yi said that the friendship and mutual trust between China and Laos will be deepened through jointly fighting the epidemic and mutually beneficial cooperation in various fields will continue to move forward. China is ready to make joint efforts with Laos to keep advancing the development of China-Laos Railway and China-Laos Economic Corridor, help Laos enhance its ability of seeking independent development and speed up the process of industrialization so that the Lao people will benefit from the building of the China-Laos community with a shared future.
