On February 15, 2020 local time, State Councilor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi met at request with Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu on the sidelines of the 56th Munich Security Conference.

Wang Yi expressed, the Chinese side appreciates that President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Mr. Foreign Minister have repeatedly expressed support for China's fight against the epidemic. The novel coronavirus is the common enemy of mankind and the international community needs to join hands to deal with it. China has made arduous efforts to fight against the epidemic, and the prevention and control work have achieved positive results. I believe that China will become stronger after the epidemic. Wang Yi said, China and Turkey, both as important emerging economies, should strengthen strategic coordination, enhance mutual trust, extend mutual understanding and support on issues involving each other's core interests and major concerns, and jointly safeguard the sovereignty of each other and the common interests of developing countries.

Mevlut Cavusoglu noted, I am glad to hear that the epidemic situation has stabilized in China, which is good news for China and the rest of the world. The Turkish side firmly supports the Chinese side in the battle against the epidemic and believes that China is fully capable of achieving victory as soon as possible. The Turkish side has provided some material assistance for the Chinese side and is willing to provide further assistance in accordance with the Chinese side's needs. The Turkish side hopes to strengthen high-level exchanges with the Chinese side, deepen cooperation in various fields, and continue to adhere to the consensus reached by the two heads of state. The Turkish side is committed to continuously enhancing mutual trust with the Chinese side. Supporting the stable development of China's Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region and the measures adopted by the Chinese side to counter terrorism and eradicate extremism, the Turkish side will maintain a fair and objective stand in this regard and will not be used as a tool for certain countries to oppose or suppress China.
