Premier Li Keqiang Chairs Meeting of the Central Leading Group on Responding to the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Outbreak

Li Keqiang, Member of the Standing Committee of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Premier of the State Council, and head of the Central Leading Group on Responding to the Novel Coronavirus Pneumonia Outbreak, chaired a meeting of the leading group on Tuesday.

It was emphasized at the meeting that Hubei Province and especially its capital Wuhan will remain the focal point in the nationwide effort to control the outbreak. We must put people's life and health first, and work hard to raise the hospital admission and cure rates while lowering the infection and case fatality rates. A number of mobile hospitals will be put to use and an additional 2,000 medical professionals will be sent to Hubei Tuesday night. Diagnostics and therapeutics should be improved by including clinically-proven methods in the treatment protocol, among other things. Traditional Chinese medicine will be introduced into the therapeutic package to improve the effectiveness of treatment.

The meeting underscored the importance of directing medical and protective resources to the front line and meeting the demand for daily necessities. Key enterprises, especially those under direct central management, are urged to increase the production of daily essentials. Transportation networks must run smoothly to expedite goods distribution and ensure market supply.
